Every summer, my grandma would take me to the pool with her, and while she did water aerobics with the "don't get my hair wet" ladies, i would swim and swim and swim (sometimes with one of her old-fashioned swim caps on! I was a hottie). You would have to bribe me to get out of the water (the bribe would consist of a grilled cheese, with a side of ketchup and cajun fries...ohhh the memories), and then my mom would usually take me out again later in the day!
Then in 7th grade I joined my schools swim team, and I was in a pool year round! Swimming saved my life (totally not joking, but that's a topic for another post). I was never good at sports, but put me between 2 lane ropes, and I could get some work done (and I enjoyed it). I swam competitively thru my freshman year in college, and then my social life started to matter more than it had before.
Well fast forward 7-8 years (gasp...i feel really old), I am in need of an exercise intervention! So I have decided that the running thing didn't work out....I will try swimming.
So today this is what my fat butt swam (all distances are in yards):
2 X 200
4 X 100
8 X 50
____________
1200 yards
And then I pooped out, but that's not too bad all things considered!
So there you have it.
Day 1 of the Exercise Intervention-COMPLETE!
Any suggested workouts would be appreciated!

Way to go!!
I am dying to get back into the pool, but the U's pool that is close to the house is temporarily closed. I might try a city pool soon because I swim better than I run too!
Go you!!
Swimming is SO good for you! Even better than running! I swam until my freshman year of college also and I miss it like crazy!
We have been enjoying the pool as well! I was never on the swim team and now I pull around Gooner in her floatie! How fun! I'd rather run and then jump in the pool to cool off!
My Annie is a swimmer. What great exercise...congrats :)
