Stream of Consciousness

  • Why do infant/toddler shoes have to be so darn cute and expensive!  I'm having a difficult time justifying $35+ on shoes that Annie will only wear for a very short while!  Where do you guys get shoes for your little ones?

  • I'm kind of addicted to Instagram.....follow me at underthetucsonsun....original I know!

  • My sister-in-law Melissa, who is awesome btw(what can I say I have pretty awesome family all around), started a blog and it is pretty much amazing!  You should read it, like right now!  http://lovingthisjoy.com, seriously, nothing else I will write about will be better than her blog, so go!

  • I am now a stay at home mom....I like it, most days, but i lack a lot of motivation and have found that i am watching too much tv and on facebook too much.

  • I am debating going on a facebook break....i think missing out on updates about my family is my only hold out.

  • Annie is on a nap strike....i don't get her....and she's a little weird, wellllll a lot weird!  I don't know where she gets it ;)

  • In other Annie news, we have a walker!  I decided that she officially graduated to this stage on her 14 month birthday, a little late yes, but all in her own timing!

  • This week has been a little lame...1st I tried to cut my finger off, then we had a snake in our garage, and then I got a letter from our HOA because someone hasn't been pulling the weeds in the front yard (or the back for that matter).  Annie needs to get on that!

  • For like the 1,000,000 time, I have missed blogging, and am really going to try and stay on top of it!

motivation where are you?

First I want to thank you all for the sweet comments over my last 2 posts.  You don't know how much your comments have brightened my day!  I'm bad at responding back individually, but thank you all...so much!

-------------------

Over the past several months (including pre-baby), I have lacked some serious motivation.  I would blame it on the fact that my job afforded me little time to get anything done from Monday morning till Friday night, and that I could barely catch my breath over the weekend, before I started again.  Then I blamed the fact that when the baby "appeared," I could barely hold my eyes open for the 8+ hours at work and hold down the metaphorical cookies, before crashing into my bed at a consistent 8PM.

Now I'm supposed to being the glorious 2nd trimester (15 weeks) and feeling energized and wonderful....and well I feel the same if not worse than I did at 7 weeks.  I caught some nasty cold making me feel like I was hit by a mack truck, and the nausea is still there.  (And please don't tell me it only gets worse....cause I like being optimistic that I won't feel this bad for the remaining 6 months, even if I don't feel any better).  I no longer work the 5 day a week job, which I am so thankful about, but I have no motivation for anything.

So I am asking all you readers out there, how do you motivate yourself, because more than likely you are all busier than I am, either with kids, clubs, hobbies, more difficult jobs, etc.  I feel overwhelmed by everything that needs to be done, and I know that's a huge part of my problem.  How do you break things up into "do-able" tasks, stay motivated through it, and still get it all done.  Ideally I would love to spend an entire day, organizing all the crap in our house, cleaning every speck of dust, and still have time to breath.  I know that at this point in time that is not realistic, and part of the reason why I can't get myself started on all the projects that need to be accomplished!

So please any input would be greatly appreciated.  Cleaning used to be cathartic to me, it is what would keep me sane during nursing school, but now I just let it all pile up, and stress me out!

It's been a busy few MONTHS!

However, I will try to be less absent and more entertaining!

Why?

Because Max has sure missed all the lovely comments he used to get!

So here's to turning over a new blog leaf!

Keeping it real

Is anyone else WORN OUT when you get home from work?

Well WE are!

Ridiculously worn out in fact, and in effort to not eat out every meal (which we nearly do, but who's keeping track right?) I have been unsuccessfully utilizing the crock pot.

After the latest unpleasantly, underwhelming creation on Monday, we were both so tired that we just decided to go to bed.  We had both worked an incredibly long day, and just said to heck with it all!

Well, fast forward to today, and the still unwashed crock pot full of unpleasant food.

We both decided it was time to tackle the "Pot of Despair." And then watch more Prison Break.

So here's how the conversation went.

Rhett: Well I guess I should clean the crock pot.
Me:  Do you have the Haz-Mat suit because we may need it.
Me:  So I think you should throw the fermenting meat into the trash, run and throw it into the dumpster, rinse it out and then just fill it up with soap.
Rhett:  Sounds like a plan.
Me:  But make sure to put some water in it too
Rhett:  Well I was just going to fill it up with soap until we run out of every type of soap we own, laundry, dish, AND hand soap.

This is what happens when the toxic food fumes get to you.

And in case your wondering, no one died in the cleaning of the crock pot...It's actually still soaking in soap AND water at the moment.

Before I was a Lawrence....

I was just another girl, living life and blogging on different sites.

So I thought it would be fun for you guys to look into my past....

The past meaning Xanga and LiveJournal of course!

I left the old blogs on sad notes. I was struggling with my move to New Mexico, but rereading those posts remind me that this difficult transition in Arizona will also pass.

However hidden in those blogs are some wonderful memories. The beginning of my relationship with Rhett, the absolute stress of nursing school, attempting to have a social life, and heinous amounts of annoying quizzes.

Read if you like, and get ready for the mother of all posts....either tomorrow or wednesday!

apparently i am an idiot.

That only makes sense if you read my previous post.

Apparently Southwest meant Ontario CALIFORNIA!

I didn't even know such a place existed.

And I know that Southwest does fly to Canada now.

:( I am a doofus!

I'm a failure at...

reheating.

Don't do this....

And definitely DON'T eat it! (don't worry we didn't)

One time when I was younger I started to boil water in the microwave in a METAL bowl....

I'm definitely not the brightest person....

I'm a failure at...

MAKEUP!

So I'm not quite sure if this will be a reoccurring series or a one time occurrance. My intention is to highlight my ridiculousness and to hopefully cause you to laugh.

Today's failure is my preferred way to apply mascara.

I never quite understood the proper way to apply mascara. I came up with the Kelley Method (I'm going to make this a trademark!) and it has worked for me ever since I could start wearing it!

Here are the steps involved in the Kelley Method:

1. Liberally apply mascara to lashes and well pretty much any skin remotely close to the eyelash. (And you must do it with a smile on your face!)
2. This is post application (notice the black dot by my eye, that was apparently close to the eyelash area). From here you can either go try to scare small children or get ready for step #3!
3. Take a washable makeup remover (my preferred is maybelline Expert Eyes) and 2 Q-Tips. Soak both sides of the Q-tips in the makeup remover.
4. Using the Q-tips clean up the mascara from around the eye area. I typically use 1 Q-Tip to clean 1 eye and use the other for the opposite eye. (please pardon my big fat flaring nostrils!)
5. And Ta Da! here's the finished product. I've stuck with this method since the 7th grade. I particularly like it because it gives you the eye liner look, without have to use eyeliner (I don't have the steadiest hand, so I tend to poke my eye when I try the eye liner business)

And apparently I have some bags under my eyes today....eeek!

I like my method, as much as I try to do it the "right" way, I just keep on coming back!

News flash!

I apparently can't spell!

That was the one thing I excelled at in 1st grade. Now it's all gone....I'm a failure at life....and spelling...

you know why?....

because I misspelled toilet....it's apparently not t-o-l-i-e-t....like I blogged about back in the day...

I'm so stressed....thanks coworker Jenny for ruining the one thing I had going for me...

(apparently coworker Jenny was happy about her 1st blog premiere, and so was coworker Monica)

ALSO, time is running out to enter my giveaway!  RUN and go enter it!
